Teeth whitening

Get ready for a whiter, brighter smile!

It is common for teeth to become discoloured as we age, particularly if you eat certain foods and drink, smoke or take certain medications. At Houghton Regis Dental Centre, we are pleased to offer patients 3 effective teeth whitening options depending on your lifestyle, your budget and how fast you want to want to see whiter results.

Zoom! Instant whitening

With our popular in-surgery Zoom! teeth whitening you’ll enjoy fast and striking results in just 1 visit – within only 60 minutes your teeth can be lightened up to 7 shades whiter and you’ll walk out of the dentist surgery with a brighter and more confident smile.

The first step in the power whitening process is the prepping of your teeth with the application of an advanced whitening gel. To speed up the whitening process, your dentist will then direct a WhiteSpeed blue LED lamp onto your teeth. This same process is repeated 3 times during the in-surgery treatment until we reach your desired shade of white. Then we simply apply a special gel to help protect enamel and reduce sensitivity. At the end of your visit, you will receive personalised whitening trays and a take-home whitening kit so that you can top-up the brightness of your smile as and when required.

Enlighten Evolution whitening

Enlighten Whitening is a combination treatment meaning that there is a 2 week home treatment followed by a 1 hour visit to the dentist. It works by increasing the tooth‘s permeability to oxygen which breaks down stain molecules.

With this advanced teeth whitening system you can look forward to seeing outstanding results, up to 16 shades lighter than your current tooth shade! The Enlighten whitening process is proven safe and effective, employing materials that have been used in dentistry for over 100 years.

POLA Whitening: By day or night

The PolaNight and PolaDay tooth whitening method method uses tailor-made plastic mouth trays which fit snugly and comfortably over your teeth. These are worn with a whitening gel either at night or for short periods during the day. It usually takes around two weeks to achieve visibly whiter teeth.

Your dentist will use the Pola shade guide to identify your tooth colour and to estimate how many shades whiter you want your teeth post treatment. Each type of whitening utilises a unique application technique to protect your tooth and gums during the whitening process. Our experienced dentist will advise on the best whitening option for the results that you are hoping to achieve. We can offer both a day time or a night time option using different strength whitening gels
