Dental bridges are a natural-looking way to fill the gaps left by missing teeth. They usually consist of a false tooth, positioned between two crowns, which slot over the teeth either side of a gap. As well as restoring your smile, they can also improve eating and speaking, and help keep your existing teeth in place.
We prepare the supporting teeth (abutment teeth) by reducing their size to ensure the crowns will fit neatly over the top. The bridge is custom-made, usually from porcelain and precious metal, and fixed in place with dental cement.
To ensure your bridge lasts as long as possible, we recommend you maintain an effective oral hygiene routine, making sure you clean under the false tooth. Also, try not to bite down too heavily on hard foods to prevent damage.
